FAQ(EN)

What material should I bring?

The activity lasts approximately 3 hours, usually in the morning. Therefore, we recommend bringing water and a small snack for mid-morning, such as a piece of fruit or a sandwich, as well as appropriate clothing and footwear for the activity to be carried out. The organization provides tools, gloves, boxes and volunteer identification bibs. If you have your own material, please bring it.

Where are the fields?

We glean in fields in different parts of the territory: mainly in the Baix Llobregat Agrarian Park, which includes several municipalities near Barcelona; in the Baixa Tordera Agricultural Area (in the Alt Maresme); Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l’Ebre. Occasionally we also glean in fields in other areas of Catalonia such as the Vallès or Terres de Lleida. At the time of registration, we ask you to indicate in which agricultural areas you would like to glean. In this way, you will only receive calls for gleanings that take place in the geographical area of your choice. You will receive the exact location of the field when you confirm your registration for a gleaning.

What type of transportation can I use?

In case of coming by private transport, it is recommended to give availability to share a car with other volunteers to contribute to reduce the environmental impact of our journeys. From the organization we put in contact people coming from nearby areas so that they can get in touch and meet at a point that suits everyone.

Can minors come?

Persons under 16 years of age may participate in the activity as long as they have the direct supervision of a person of legal age accompanying them (mother, father or legal tutor). The Espigoladors Foundation will not be responsible for him or her under any circumstances.

Will I be notified of all gleanings that are organized?

You will receive the calls for new gleanings through the email address you provided when you registered in the volunteer exchange. Often it will be a few days in advance, as the gleaning activity itself is quite unpredictable and depends on several factors external to the organization itself. We inform you that you will not be sent all the calls for volunteers that we organize throughout the year, as some of them are carried out with closed groups of very diverse collectivees. Besides, we always try to size the call for volunteers to the volume of work to be done, in order to adjust to the maximum the ideal number of participants and make the activity satisfactory for everyone. Therefore, it is possible that if at the time of your pre-registration the group is full, you will receive an email informing you that on this occasion it is not possible for you to participate.

The frequency of the calls is very variable depending on the availability of the camps, the geographical area and the time of the year. Being registered in the volunteer program does not imply a minimum or regular commitment to participate in the gleanings. However, we ask that if you have registered for an activity and are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible in order to free the place for another volunteer.

What if I get hurt?

Volunteers under 85 years of age are covered by an insurance policy covering personal damages that may occur during the volunteer activity. However, the age group between 70 and 85 years of age has special conditions regarding this coverage. If you have any questions, please contact administracio@espigoladors.com.

What do we do with the personal data you have provided?

The data you provide will be stored in a file owned by the Fundació Espigoladors in order to manage the relationship that connects us. We guarantee the treatment of data according to current regulations and we inform you that you can exercise your rights of access, rectification, deletion and portability, limitation and / or opposition to treatment by contacting voluntariat@espigoladors.com.

What is the cost of gleanings?

The gleanings do not have any economic cost for the volunteers. But the entity allocates a part of its economic resources to guarantee and promote the proper functioning of the activity such as personnel, van, gasoline, tools, etc. If you want to contribute, you can buy our products es im-perfect® and you will participate in the economic sustainability of the project.

If I want to participate as a collective or social entity, how should I do it?

If you want to participate with a large group of people from a specific group or social entity, you can contact us through the email voluntariat@espigoladors.com specifying your proposal. We inform you that, due to the nature of the activity and logistical difficulties, we do not normally take groups of students from educational centers. In the pedagogical field, we have a wide range of services for schools and institutes that you can consult on our website or by sending an email to educacio@espigoladors.com.
